In January 2003, I decided to try Amtrak's rail sale and take a trip from
Chicago to Kansas City and back. I had altready taken the Southwest Chief from Los
Angeles to Chicago in 2001, and would be taking it again from Chicago to Los Angeles in
March 2003.
So this was a relatively short train trip for me, but at $20 each way it was really worth
it.

The train was pretty fast, many

our train to Kansas City. We had four engines at the front of this train (123, 137,
200, and 45).

This was taken at the Lumber
Street rail bridge, looking toward the head end of the train. After waiting here for
a minute or two, we would back into Union Station in Chicago.
